ICD Alloys and Metals

Greg Cox – Second Shift Supervisor.

I have been working for ICD Alloys and Metals since 2014, and I have moved through various jobs including processing and shipping.

I am now the Second Shift Supervisor, and I am responsible for managing the flow of work from receiving a job, right through to shipping the final product back out again.

To do this, I delegate jobs to the team, plan our daily workload and basically make sure everything runs smoothly. It is a busy place, so you have got to be extremely organized in this role.

My previous experience working in other roles is a real advantage as it gives me an in-depth understanding of all aspects of the workflow. I can see the bigger picture but I also understand the detail involved at each stage of the journey and can support the team as needed.

Some days everything goes to plan, and then on other days a last-minute job comes in and everything needs to be redone. Meeting our customers’ needs is the main priority for us though, so we go back to the drawing board and create a new plan. The focus is always on getting the job done and fulfilling the customer’s requirements.

The team are great – it is like a family. Everyone is very supportive and pitches in. It is a great company and I enjoy working for them.

In my downtime I spend as much time as I can with family and friends. I try to relax and get ready for the week ahead.
